Estimated Fuel Savings @ 8.2%: $63,960 per year.
Plans are to outfit all of this Line’s fleet of 21 vessels.
Projected annual gross fuel savings will be $1,343,160.
In addition, an estimated 7,300 tons of CO2 will be saved from entering the atmosphere.

A Major International Cruise Line
A major international passenger cruise line has asked for fuel trials on one of their cruise ships. This test has been scheduled for April 2010. This ship requires up to 2,300 gallons of diesel fuel per hour and operates approximately 3,500 hours per year.
Per ship fuel consumption: Over 8 million gallons per year.
Fuel cost per ship: $10,384,500 per year.
Estimated fuel savings @ 8%: $830,760 per year per vessel.
Currently, this cruise line owns 14 vessels of this size, which, if outfitted on all vessels would provide them with a total gross fuel savings of $11,630,630 per year.
In addition, a single ship can reduce CO2 emissions by 7,206 tons a year. Outfitting 14 vessels would result in a reduction of over 100,000 tons of harmful CO2 emissions per year.

Regional Tugboat Company

This is a typical family-owned tugboat business that specializes in container/ barge transportation. Each tugboat burns approximately 140 gallons of diesel per hour, and operates approximately 5,000 hours a year.
Fuel consumption per boat: 700,000 gallons per year.
Fuel cost per boat: $1,575,000 per year @ $2.25/gallon.
Estimated Fuel Savings per boat: $126,000 per year.

This medium-sized passanger ferry operates between Bellingham, Washington and Victoria, British Columbia. It has three older diesel engines that are noted for dirty black smoke exhaust. Each engine uses 23 gallons of diesel fuel per hour and operates approximately 1,200 hours per year.
Fuel Consumption: 82,800 gallons per year.
Fuel Savings @ 8.0%: 6,624 gallons per year.
81 tons of CO2 exhaust will be saved each year.

Sand and Gravel Company

This Northwest company operates approximately 50 Caterpillar 988G front-end loaders with 3,456 engines.
Fuel consumption per loader: 32,500 gallons per year.
Fuel savings @ 9.0%: 2,925 gallons per year.
Annual cost savings per loader: $7,020 per year.
A fleet of 50 loaders will have a fuel savings of $351,000 per year.
This system will eliminate 32.7 tons CO2 exhaust per front end Loader and with 50 loaders it is estimated 1,635 tons of CO2 will be eliminated each year.

Large Mining Company

This Utah company operates 61 haul trucks ranging from 240 to 320 ton in just one mine.. Each truck operates approximately 7,000 hours per year and on average burns 60 gallons of diesel fuel per hour.
- Fuel consumption per truck: 420,000 gallons per year.
- Fuel cost per truck @ $2.40 per gallon: $1,008,000 per year.
- Estimated fuel savings @ 8.0%: $80,640 per year.
- The entire fleet outfitted will result in a gross annual fuel savings to the company of $4,919,040.
In addition, an estimated 376 tons of CO2 exhaust per truck will be eliminated. Outfitting the entire fleet will eliminate 22,293 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
